This is Vang Vieng, a place I passed through for one night on my way north. Some bridges like this have to be re-made every year because during the rainy season the river washes them away. Vang Vieng is gorgeous landscape and a simple village on which the tourism gods have vomited (the few commercial streets littered with restaurants with - literally - identical - like photocopied - menus serving pizza and fish'n chips not shown). But there is an organic cafe' serving great mulberry-based foods; its the offshoot of an organic farm a few km out of town - where, if you stay awhile, you can volunteer in farming or in other community projects (that needs another cheesy grin, doesn't it?)
