Zamboanga: I only had 2-3 days with PAZ, then I moved to visit the Silsilah Dialogue Movement (Muslim-Christian). I had met one of the two priests there when I was in Manila, and he invited me to stay with them for (at least, he emphasized) 2 weeks. Silsilah does have a lot going on, so you're only gonna get highlights here, I'm afraid. Silsilah is very different in character from Catholic Relief Services so I able to experience some of the differences in religious peace organizations that I'd written about in my dissertation. 1) The main Silsilah space, called Harmony Village, is like a retreat center; there are many buildings - offices and accommodation - and an adjacent organic farm; I just liked this doorway 2) A second space is the Emmaus Dialogue Community - where a few lay consecrated (it's complicated) women live and work in one of the poorest parts of Zamboanga. 3) The laundry building at Emmaus where I amused one of my hostesses to no end with my amateur scrub and wring efforts. 4-5) My bed - I was used to the mosquito nets, but found the complete lack of cushion noteworthy.
